Man claims rights to SpongeBob

In 1991 Troy Walker created Bob Spongee, a sponge who had eyes, legs and arms. He lived on Apple Street with his wife, Linda, and their daughter, Bubbles.

He also produced 1,000 dolls that he sold in flea markets and through the mail.

“They took all of it,” Walker said this week. “I sold the Bob Spongees all throughout Northern California. It obviously fell into the hands of one of the producers of the show. It’s a clear pattern of duplication.”

Walker has demanded $1.6 billion in damages. Nickelodeon will not comment on pending litigation, a spokeswoman wrote in a statement.

Toy Story 3 set for 2010 release

Millions cried today when Disney announced that Toy Story 3 won’t be released until 2010. Three long years of waiting to see what Woody and Buzz are up to. At least we’ll have other upcoming Pixar films such as Ratatouille, Wall-E to ease the pain of waiting.

Disney also confirmed that Tom Hanks and Tim Allen will be back for the starring roles. If you’ve been keeping up with the Toy Story 3 news, you might remember that both Tom and Tim had said they would not voice the characters if Pixar wasn’t involved. Disney, at one point, had started work on Toy Story 3 without Pixar. Now that Disney owns Pixar, the rightful studio has taken over development.

DreamWorks has reportedly committed to making at least one film featuring Tintin, although it has not yet been decided which of the 24 comic books will be adapted for the project.

NICK RODWELL, head of Herge Studios, said “If movie number one works, we will continue.” Tintin first appeared in a Belgian children’s newspaper in 1929. It went on to become a comic book series and an animated TV show.

Interview: Southland star Ben McKenzie talks ‘Batman: Year One’

Produced by Warner Premiere, DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Animation, Batman: Year One arrives October 18, 2011 on Blu-ray Combo Pack and DVD, On Demand and for Download. Batman: Year One will also be available in a special download-for-purchase early window starting October 11 through iTunes, Xbox Live, Zune, VUDU HD Movies and Video Unlimited on the PlayStation Network & Sony Entertainment Network.

Following his initial recording session for Batman: Year One, McKenzie took some time to discuss the film, the character, Adam West and more…

What was your initial reaction to being offered the role of Batman?

BEN MCKENZIE: When I got the offer for Batman: Year One, I was very excited because I really like this particular take on Batman. It’s a darker take – a Frank Miller take – on the origin story. And I think it’s fun to play the character in a way that it is more reminiscent of his being a real vigilante. He’s a tough, tortured soul who is exacting revenge upon a criminal element that took something very important away from him. As an actor, this role gives you a little bit more backstory, so you have the chance to play him as a real person, albeit a person who is a little bit mentally unstable, perhaps, but heroic nonetheless. It’s exciting to get to play a character who is so specifically intense and unusual.

Peter Pan ads on Tomatoes

Apparently Disney really wants to sell a ton of Peter Pan DVDs. A reader over at the Consumerist sent in an image of a Peter Pan sticker ad on a tomato. The sticker reads “Now on 2-disc DVD Disney’s Peter Pan.” – Whatever works I guess… even if it doesn’t make much sense. Unless they’re going after moms all over the country in hopes that they’ll drive to the nearest retailer and pick up Peter Pan for their kids.
