New details have been revealed about the upcoming Batman: Gotham Knight animated movie. It turns out that the movie will actually consist of six different shorts, written by different writers and animated by three Japanese anime studios. Writers include comic book writers Brian Azzarello and Greg Rucka and Batman Begins screenwriter David Goyer. The animation studios are Production I.G., Studio 4C and Madhouse whose previous work includes Steamboy, Ghost in the Sheel and Ninja Scroll.

The intention of the movie is to bridge the gap between the live action Batman Begins and upcoming The Dark Knight sequel. According to rumors, Christian Bale will provide his voice to the project. The DVD is expected in stores before the July release of The Dark Knight.
