BBC Studios and The Walt Disney Company have announced that a Bluey feature film will premiere in theaters worldwide in 2027, followed by a Disney+ release — likely three to four months later. It will also air on ABC iView and ABC Kids in Australia.
Written and directed by series creator Joe Brumm, the film will continue the heartwarming adventures of Bluey, her parents Bandit and Chilli and her little sister Bingo.
Brumm said: “I really enjoyed the experience of working with a longer format on ‘The Sign’ in [season] 3, so going even further with a feature film feels like a natural extension of that. I’ve always thought Bluey deserved a theatrical movie. I want this to be an experiential event for the whole family to enjoy together.”
Melanie Zanetti and David McCormack will return to voice Chilli and Bandit. The children who voice Bluey and Bingo — whose identities remain private — have not been confirmed, but it’s safe to assume they’re involved.
Amber Naismith (Happy Feet, The Lego Movie) will produce. Series director Richard Jeffery returns as co-director. Series composer Joff Bush also returns.
Bluey is 2024’s most-watched series globally on Disney+ and the year’s most-watched series on streaming to date through November among total viewers in the U.S., with more than 842 million hours watched. It’s also the top kids show on CBeebies and Disney+ in the UK.
