‘Coco 2’ Confirmed: Sequel in Development at Pixar for a Possible 2029 Release with Original Directors Returning

Pixar’s Coco 2 is in the works at Pixar Animation Studios. The announcement was made today by CEO Bob Iger during The Walt Disney Company’s Annual Meeting of Shareholders.

“While the film is just in the initial stages, we know it will be full of humor, heart and adventure,” said Iger. “And we can’t wait to share more soon.”

Coco 2 reunites the team behind the original film, including director Lee Unkrich and co-director Adrian Molina. Mark Nielsen will produce.

At first the announcement mentioned a 2029 release but it has since been removed. We say that’s a pretty safe bet, though. And we don’t think they’d recast Miguel, which means we’ll likely see a grown-up Miguel in the sequel.

BBC Studios and The Walt Disney Company have announced that a Bluey feature film will premiere in theaters worldwide in 2027, followed by a Disney+ release — likely three to four months later. It will also air on ABC iView and ABC Kids in Australia.

Written and directed by series creator Joe Brumm, the film will continue the heartwarming adventures of Bluey, her parents Bandit and Chilli and her little sister Bingo.

Brumm said: “I really enjoyed the experience of working with a longer format on ‘The Sign’ in [season] 3, so going even further with a feature film feels like a natural extension of that.
