The fine folks over at AICN, one of the best film sites online, have gotten their hands on some character designs from Disney’s upcoming animated film, The Princess and the Frog.

Variety is reporting that Disney’s The Princess and the Frog’s original Christmas Day release date has been pushed up to December 11, avoiding direct competition with Fox’s Alvin and the Chipmunks sequel.
The film will now go up against Peter Jackson’s The Lovely Bones, which shouldn’t affect Frog’s numbers seeing as one is an animated fairytale, while the other is about a young girl who has been murdered.
As if a December 11 release date wasn’t enough, New York and Los Angeles residents will be able to watch The Princess and the Frog beginning November 25. It’s not too late to pack your suitcases and move cities. I recommend Los Angeles. The weather’s nice.
Twentieth Century Fox has moved the CGI-live action hybrid Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakuel directly against Disney’s The Princess and the Frog on Christmas Day 2009.
Fox’s other animated movie, Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs will stay in its Summer 2009 release date.
In other news, Sony Pictures will release Planet 51 in November 2009. The movie features the voice of Dwayne Johnson. Previously Warner Bros. had scheduled the movie for Summer 2009 but let the film go after producers wanted a November release.

Disney will make its return to 2D animation with the Holiday 2009 release, The Princess and the Frog, a fairy tale about a young girl named Princess Tiana who lives in New Orleans’ French Quarter during the Jazz Age.
Variety reports that Bruno Campos will voice the frog in Disney’s 2D animated feature “The Princess and the Frog.†Bruno also landed the a series regular role in Zach Braff’s Fox/ABC pilot “Night Life.†Previously, Bruno Campos has appeared on NBC’s “Jesse†and F/X’s “Nip/Tuck.â€
Disney has announced their animation schedule for the next 5 years and it includes TWO new Pixar movies for 2011. The others (Wall-E, Up, Toy Story 3, Cars 2) we already knew about.
